LIMITED SIGNED AND NUMBERED EDITION OF 256 COPIES signed by Captain Robert PicheÂ
Air Transat flight number TS 236 was a transatlantic overnight flight from Toronto (Canada) bound for Lisbon (Portugal) on August 24, 2001. During the flight, the Airbus A330 suffered a dual engine flame out due to a major fuel leak. For 19 minutes, Captain Robert Piche, assisted by his first officer, managed without engine power to glide the aircraft for a distance of 120 km (75 miles) until an emergency landing in the Azores, thus saving the 306 people on board including crew members. It was and still is considered the longest glider flight in the history of modern commercial aviation to date. The Azores Glider aircraft A330-200 C-GITS was retired by Air Transat in 2021 and was ferried to Pinal Airpark in Marana Arizona for storage.Â
