I Love Kits Fokker DrI 1:24 Original MERIT issue 2015
The Fokker Dr.I Dreidecker (triplane) was a World War I fighter aircraft built by Fokker-Flugzeugwerke. The Dr.I saw widespread service in the spring of 1918. It became renowned as the aircraft in which Manfred von Richthofen gained his last 19 victories, and in which he was killed on April 21 1918.
Injection-molded, 133 parts (10 photo-etched metal), & decals which include panels of 'streaky' camouflage as applied by the factory.
Merit is better known as a manufacturer/distributor of large plastic snap together kits in 1:18 scale. This may be their first full WW1 model kit [ apparently moulded by Trumpeter for them ] and a couple more have been issued since . This is a nice little kit that should pose no problems for any modeler worth his/her salt. There is a small sheet of etch which contains some control horns & jackets for both guns [ this may be the only tricky part, but it is worth the effort !]. Not much rigging is required to complete the model as the real thing had most of the wires hidden in the struts. Options for two aircraft are included, one of them being an aircraft flown by Richtofen that is NOT all red. These aircraft had 'streaks' applied to their surfaces at the factory by brush, and the decal sheet gives you panels of this camo scheme that you can use if you do not wish to apply these streaks with paint yourself. Altogether a decent kit & recommended to beginner & fanatic alike.
