IBG PZL 37B II Los - Polish Medium Bomber 1:72
A legendary aircraft in the Polish conscience, the PZL P.37 was considered to be one of the most advanced aircraft in the sky before the war & was courting export sales to interested nations around the world. At the outbreak of war in 1939, the few dozen operational examples in the Polish Air Force's inventory were thrown into the defence of the mother country, sent on missions for which they were not designed & without fighter support, & most were destroyed. A number of these aircraft escaped to Romania, where they were seized & ultimately used against the Soviets. None survive.
Naturally, Polish kit manufacturers have been issuing P.37 models for decades, apparently using the same mold dating from 1983. There was an earlier mold, but we do not know if it is connected to the 1983 issue. I have some of these Polish issues in my archive & must say they are amusing, kinda like an old FROG kit, decent but quite dated. I may build one one day just for the heck of it, with new decals lifted from one of these IBG kits as the original decals are not great.
An outstanding kit, short run style & intended for the serious modeler. This guy needs a bit of care but nothing that a keen modeler cannot handle. IBG is one of many limited run plastic kit manufacturers who are stretching the boundaries of what short run manufacturers can offer. I believe we are still on the ground floor of this movement & the best is still to come. Enjoy !
