Fairey Gannet AS.1/AS.4 1:48 NEW 2023
First ever high pressure injection moulded plastic kit if this aircraft in 1/48 scale !!
For those who are keeping score- The CLASSIC AIRFRAMES family of Gannets were short run plastic kits with extensive resin parts, intended for the advanced modeler. Two kits were issued in 2007 & 2015, a third was planned but not issued. It is unlikely that these kits will ever be re-issued now that Airfix has trumped them. Short run kits require considerable modeling skills to assemble. Ask your local IPMS guys how many Classic Airframes kits each of them has built....then watch them run to the hills !!
The DYNAVECTOR kit which preceded it [circa 2000] was a vacuform multi media kit with resin & white metal parts, intended for modelers even more advanced than the ones who could build the Classic Airframes kits!! A beautiful antique- I have one of these & it is gorgeous !! Dynavector made some of the best vacuform kits, period !
This Airfix kit should be accessible to all enthusiasts with at least some basic modeling skills. Enjoy !
