CRJ900 Air Canada express Jazz 2017 livery C-GJAN 1:400**REPAIRED!**REPAIRED!
So you wanna be a diecast model retailer, eh??? Well, ya better learn some basic modelling skills or ya ain't gonna get very far!! Our Distributors do not wish to see their retailers sending back models for credit that they consider EASILY FIXABLE, yet these 'easily fixable' repairs are usually time consuming & some are difficult...plus there are so many repairs to make! We get so much stuff over the course of a month & there is ALWAYS something in EVERY batch that needs repair ! This statement does not single out any particular brand, the problem is industry wide. Some models have components or packages that are poorly designed, others have problems with weak [ or non-existent ] glue, plus the stresses & shocks of shipping & the effects of temperature changes during the journey to the final destination all take their toll. So, ya wanna be a diecast model retailer, eh???- well, then break out the glue, paint brushes & metal files and get to work!!!
We received a number of Air Canada CRJ900's 1:400 with loose tails. This is a common problem with any 't-tail' aircraft model, not just this Air Canada CRJ & we have even seen it happen with batches of 1:200 scale models too [JC Wings B727 Air Canada 'Red & White' livery from a few years ago springs to mind]. The stabilizers on some of these models have no tabs to fit into the slot in the tail [due to poor molding] and if the glue does not hold, off they come! They are a real bugger to fix for exactly the same reason- how do you make the stabs stay on the tail??? It requires a very strong glue, plus in some cases a shpritz of accelerator to 'zap' the glue to hold the parts together. I have managed to fix a number of these models & they are fairly solid, but there will be a bit of glue evident to the naked eye, as these parts could simply not be fixed without it! The stabs are a very poor fit on these particular models, that is why they came off in the first place !!
I have priced the models below normal retail as some glue will be visible on the tails. These models are not 'dogs', I know how to use glue & they look OK. They should survive shipping no better or worse than a standard Gemini model, but please understand that there is some risk as with any model in the clutches of Canada Post or UPS. If your tail comes off in shipping, please consider gluing it back yourself & not calling us to complain! I am a 56 year old man with failing eyesight & if I can glue these tails back on with my grubby fingers, so can you !!! If you wanna collect diecast models, you should learn some basic modelling skills or you simply won't get very far! 'Nuff said !
Keep in mind that we have fixed MANY of these models perfectly & have sold them for full price. The batch that you see here could not be fixed perfectly due to poor molding of the tabs on the stabs. More glue was required, thus the glue can be seen. Once again-'nuff said !
