DH83 Fox Moth RCAF Station Gander floats & skis 1:72
Ok Kids, this kinda stuff really turns my crank ! Absolutely fantastic subject matter, would be great to see it in 1/48 scale ! At first glance, the kit appears pretty straightforward, with one large sprue of plastic parts, a decent set of clear & a small bag filled with delicate resin for the floats, skiis & struts- however, this is short run plastic & needs some care to assemble. Lots of test fitting before committing to glue, plus the usual care when handling the fine resin details. This is not a weekend job [ unless you are Captain Marvel ! ].
Now the punchline- why do we care about this kit ? This is one of four different DH83 kits currently available from AVI Models & the only one on floats & skiis, plus the only one that represents an aircraft flown in Canada. Both options in this kit are pretty snazzy, but the RCAF Station Gander flown machine is the one that gets me drooling ! Pls check out our online images for details about these options. I wish AVI Models had included some references in their instructions, so we could follow up & do further research on these aircraft & their fascinating use & operation. Good stuff nonetheless !!!
