2006 issue, discontinued Only 216 pieces were made. Although this model appears Mint, the blue paint on the bottom has developed a network of hairline cracks, a problem we have seen with various different models using similar shades of dark blue paint. No chipping or flaking, just faint cracks. This is not zinc rot- that is a totally different problem that turns your model into a pretzel !
This model is structurally sound- it is just the dark blue paint that has faint cracks.
This model came from a stellar collection of 1:400 scale Canadian airline models. All of them were stored under the same conditions & only this piece has developed this problem. This could be a problem with this batch of paint, this particular model & it is possible that other copies of this release have the same problem. Keep your eyes open & ask questions when buying online.
