2002 issue, discontinued. 2000 copies were made. Mint copy from a collection in like new box. Even the plastic case is crystal clear !- yet the small plastic landing gear doors have gone yellow with age.
The small plastic landing gear doors have gone yellow with age- this appears to be common to this issue judging by images of other models I am finding online. Can't stop the aging process, folks !!
Even the insides of the engines [from the back] have gone yellow. Not too many people look inside the backs of the engines- there ain't much to see in there !! It may not be possible to find a copy of this model at this stage without yellowed plastic parts. These are minor details mentioned strictly for the benefit of the handful of perfectionists 'out there' who worry about these kinds of things !!
Many early diecast models had some plastic parts that are now turning yellow with age. Herpa, Starjets & even Gemini plastic parts are slowly turning color. Dragon on the other hand used a different kind of plastic [probably the same stuff they used to make their model kits from] & this plastic does not seem to age!
