Superb all plastic kit of the classic heavy fighter ! This aircraft found it's niche in the anti-shipping role as nicely portrayed on the box !
Newly tooled in 2015, this lovely thing replaced the original Airfix kit that was first issued in 1958 & was still being issued into 2008 ! [ The last issue was a Dogfight Double with a Bf109G ! , ah, memories !!!!!]. The two molds cannot be compared- the original issue is an antique, the 2015 issue is a work of art !
For several years, Airfix has been replacing many of it's old, well-worn kits with brand new molds featuring the same subjects. Some of their original molds date back to the mid-1950's & are well past their prime. However, they do evoke many happy memories ! This Beaufighter continues that tradition and is absolutely state of the art ! A gorgeous thing, this kit gives you options for both torpedo & rocket laden aircraft. Beautiful right out of the box, it compares favorably against the more expensive Hasegawa Beaufighter family that first appeared around 1998.
